March 18 - Disciplining our Children

Discipline your children, and they will give you happiness and peace of mind.
Proverbs 29:17

Every parent struggles with discipline. A new day presents itself with a new set of challenges from our children. The list of discipline reasons is endless but thankfully and by the grace of our Father so is the love for our children. The love you feel for your children is limitless. Discipline is a necessary and loving way to show our children that we care for them today and always. Of course ignoring bad behavior is easier, but it is not what our Father in Heaven wants us to do. God loves you enough to discipline you when you cause problems. So too, should you discipline your own children with fairness and kindness. Your Father Almighty will give you the strength and wisdom to discern attitudes and enforce punishment. Consistency is key. Whatever you feel led by God to discipline, do it fairly, with love, and always.

O Father in Heaven I struggle so often with disciplining my children. They are all a blessing from you Father, I want to do what is best and raise them up to be good Christians, faithful and strong. I know you love me O Lord. May the love and discipline you show me rain down upon my own children in my own discipline of their behaviors. Please give me the wisdom to discern their attitudes and the strength to be consistent in my punishments. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

This was so very encouraging. This last week was tough. I felt like all I did was discipline and that my children were going to be scarred for life! This good word reminds me to press on in what is right, making sure that I am walking in the Spirit of Christ while doing so.

What a gift for me you have been these days. And btw the busy mom's free giveaway met their quota... so I'll have to buy it when it's actually released!
